Lingnan University was a place of self-discovery for me, much like a sandbox—a term commonly used in the tech industry to signify a testing environment for untested software. I was the untested software.
My interactions with international students exposed me to lifestyle values that were very different from my upbringing in a Muslim country. My summer exchange to St. Petersburg, Russia, was a mind-opening adventure that taught me how to pick a good bottle of vodka, but more importantly, it gave me a bird's-eye view into Russian people, history, and culture.
I achieved these things by leveraging the university's resources—the same resources that are at your disposal. To me, this is equally as important as studying well. Take your time at Lingnan as an opportunity to explore and discover yourself, whether by befriending the hundreds of exchange students the university hosts every year, participating in an overseas exchange program, or both!
