During application, Senior Year applicants should first choose "Risk and Insurance Management (Senior Year)" under the section "Study Programme", then choose the two concentrations within "Stream / Concentration Preferences".

Overview
Securing Your future
- The Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Risk and Insurance Management programme gives students an in-depth knowledge of industry practices and market trends to meet the needs of prospective employers in the banking and insurance sectors in Hong Kong, China and beyond.
Enhancing Whole-person Development
- The RIM programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical business applications. It covers everything from the fundamentals of finance and insurance to the principles of wealth management and ethics, enhancing students’ whole-person development and opening up future opportunities. The Department of Finance and Insurance, which is Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited, collaborates with well-known organisations to offer a wide range of student development activities, including exchange programmes and internships.
New! Insurance Technology Concentration
Starting from the 2025 Entry, the new Insurance Technology Concentration will be available to Senior Year applicants. This concentration synchronises with the government's substantial support for the advancement of the insurance industry and the overall competitiveness of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Students will develop a clear understanding of how financial and insurance companies, as well as their operators, invest in IT and related technologies to improve customer experience and reduce operational costs. Graduates under this concentration will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complexities of the insurance industry, ensuring they can actively participate in the growth and innovation of the insurance industry.

The University offers a wide range of scholarships for students pursuing the BBA (Hons) programmes with exceptional academic performance or outstanding contributions to community service.
To foster holistic development, we provide ample opportunities for students to participate in overseas exchange, community service and internships via our well-established network of partners in academia and the business sector in Hong Kong, mainland China and beyond.
Scholarships in Abundance
In addition to University scholarships, outstanding students taking the BBA (Hons) in RIM (Self-financed) are eligible for awards from a number of other schemes.
- AR Charitable Foundation Scholarship
- Began in 2013, covering a period of eight consecutive academic years.
- Financial support with a fund up to HK$10 million, including:
- A one-off Entrance Scholarships of HK$50,000;
- Recognition Scholarships of HK$42,100;
- MSc Overseas Scholarships of about HK$450,000; and
- Sponsorship for Chartered Insurance Institute public qualification examinations up to a maximum of HK$10,000.

- QBE Foundation Scholarships
- Shanghai Commercial Bank Scholarships
- The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers Scholarships
- Tokio Marine Insurance Scholarship
Career Prospects
- Careers: Graduates of the BBA (Hons) in RIM are well prepared for challenging roles with insurance companies, banks and other financial institutions. They often find positions as insurance underwriters, claim officers, insurance product developers, brokers, bankers, or non-insurance-related administrators.
- Qualifications: The programme leads to both a BBA (Hons) in RIM degree and the DipCII on graduation. The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) grants up to 100 diploma credits and 30 certificate credits. So, if a student has earned 100 credits by taking two CII exams - Insurance Law and Business - they will be awarded the DipCII.
- Memberships and Exemptions: Graduates are also eligible for Senior Associate membership of the Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF). They are exempted from two of the four papers of the Hong Kong Diploma in Insurance Studies overseen by The Insurance Institute of Hong Kong (IIHK) and from attendance at certain modules for the CFP examination managed by the Institute of Financial Planners of Hong Kong (IFPHK).
