The normal duration for the Programme is one year full-time and the maximum period of study is three years. Teaching normally begins in late August and ends in May. Students who are required to attend the pre-entry course will normally take the course from late July– prior to the beginning of the new academic year.

The application generally begins on 1 October and closes on 30 April of the following year. Late application may be considered if spaces are still available.

The tuition fees for the academic year 2026-27 is HK$258,000 for both local student and non-local student.

Usually the commencement date of the ESGM classes is late August to early September.

The ESGM classes will normally be held on weekdays or Saturdays at Lingnan campus. For the pre-entry courses (which will normally be offered from mid-July to late August), class meeting times and venues will depend on student enrollment. A formal announcement will be made prior to the commencement of the courses.

The full-time ESGM is a credit-based programme. All courses in the programme structure are designed on the basis of three-credit units. The normal duration for the full-time ESGM programme is one year and the maximum period of study will be three years from the date of first registration. Students are required to complete FOUR required courses (congruent to the Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental, Social, and Governance Management curriculum) in the first semester.Upon successful completion of the 15 credits in the first semester, students are eligible to proceed to the second semester. Students are required to complete the five elective courses (15 credits), in the second semester. Upon completion of these five courses and achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.67 or above, students are granted Master of Science in Environmental, Social, and Governance Management degrees, subject to the satisfaction of University graduation requirements.

To be eligible for entry into Master of Science in Environmental, Social, and Governance Managemen, applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution; or have other qualifications and experience, which will be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

For MScESGM applicants with no or limited background in accounting, economics, finance, and business in their bachelor’s studies will be required to pass either one or two 30-hour pre-entry courses, Accounting or Introduction to Business, Economics and Finance, based on the applicants’ undergraduate transcripts prior to the start of this programme.
 

For MScESGM(ST) applicants with no or limited background in economics, finance, and business in their bachelor's studies will be required to pass a 30-hour pre-entry course, Introduction to Business, Economics and Finance, prior to the start of this programme. 

As teaching will be normally conducted in English, an applicant whose undergraduate degree is not from a tertiary institution in Hong Kong, or an English-speaking country should meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement below:

• IELTS: minimum acceptable score of 6.0 or
• TOEFL: minimum acceptable score of 550 (paper-based test) or 79 (internet-based test) or other equivalent English qualifications to be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants who have graduated from a university using English as a main teaching language do not normally need to present evidence of their language proficiency.

Yes, after completion of your online submission and payment, you still can submit any additional supporting materials by email to: [email protected] and send the original copy of recommendation letters by post on or before the application deadline.

The selection process will begin as soon as we receive your completed application materials and confidential recommendation forms. Applicants may be required to attend an interview (via online) conducted by the Director of Taught Postgraduate Programmes Office and one more faculty member.

It may be the firewall problem, if so, you may need to use another computer or other computer network to try again.
Or you may have chosen a wrong “document type” when uploading your ID card/passport or transcript/certificate online. If so, you need to remove the files and re-upload the file again by choosing the correct document type online.

No separate scholarship applications are required. Students will automatically be considered for various types of the scholarships based on their academic merits and services.
