Banner 9 Upgrade

Banner 9 is the core ERP system of Lingnan University. It provides a suite of mission critical applications that support the University’s administrative tasks such as student admission, student advising, student registration and enrolment, grade processing, examination and graduation, hostel management, class/examination/room scheduling and timetabling, finance management, staff personal records, payroll and alumni affairs management, etc. All staff and students can also access personal and academic information around the clock through single sign-on anywhere anytime. 

In order to deliver the latest functional enhancement, system compatibility, user experience improvement and security enhancement, a major upgrade of the Banner system was successfully carried out in Easter 2023 upon months of planning and preparation and the new version was released on schedule.

Below are the major benefits achieved after the upgrade:

  • All the software modules have been upgraded to the target versions with enhanced features and functionality.
  • The upgraded software modules and patching have enhanced the system performance, stability, security and information protection.
  • The GUI, such as the Application Navigator, was enhanced to provide full browser support and 'Google-like' searching capability. 

Together with the upgraded hardware platform conducted previously, the Banner upgrade has further unleashed the hardware power of our ERP platform and, as a result, it further improved the system performance and user experience.
