Cross-Institutional Course/Subject Enrolment Scheme

To enhance the opportunities for research postgraduate students to have access to courses and expertise at sister institutions in Hong Kong, China, the eight institutions (viz. City University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, The Education University of Hong Kong, The University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Lingnan University and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) that are offering research postgraduate programmes entered an agreement to set up mechanisms enabling research postgraduate students to enrol in courses offered by other sister institutions. Course Enrolment Details of Term 1, 2026/27:

^# Students applying for courses offered by the institution concerned are required to complete an e-form. Please refer to websites of respective institutions for details.
^* The application deadline is applicable to most courses. Some courses have deadlines ranging from 7 August to 7 September 2026.
^{^} The first lesson of some postgraduate courses may start before 1 September 2026.

For Lingnan Research Postgraduate (RPg) Students

Before applying, please read the Guidance for Lingnan Research Postgraduate Students on Course Taking.

For RPg students of programmes in the Faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, the School of Graduate Studies, and the Wu Jieh Yee School of Interdisciplinary Studies: The maximum load for course taking is three courses per term, including all courses offered by Lingnan (including the mandatory course “RWTS510 Academic Writing and Research Methodology across Disciplines” for all new RPg students) and other sister institutions. The maximum load is relaxed for RPg students of Business and Data Science programmes as they may be required to take a greater number of courses in a term.

For first-year RPg students of Business programmes: Students are required to complete the mandatory course “RBUS510 Research Methods in Business” specifically designed for them in Term 1. Enrolment in this course will be arranged for them in Term 1 and students concerned are therefore not required to apply for course enrolment in this mandatory course.

For first-year RPg students of Data Science programmes: Students are required to complete the mandatory course “RDSC510 Research Methods in Data Science” in Term 1. Enrolment in this course will be arranged for them in Term 1 and students concerned are therefore not required to apply for course enrolment in this mandatory course.

All new RPg students are required to complete the mandatory course “RWTS510 Academic Writing and Research Methodology across Disciplines” and they will be automatically enrolled in the course in Term 1.

¹ Department/Unit at Lingnan refers to a unit that house RPg students which can be a school/an academic department/an academic unit/a division/a research institute, and the “Head” refers to the staff in-charge of the unit.
