LEAP Activity: Tsuen Wan Village Guided Tour

On 18 January and 1 March 2025, the LEAP (Learning Enhancement Activities Plan) Programme held a significant event titled “Tsuen Wan Village Guided Tour" (印象荃灣，鄉村導賞). This enriching event attracted over 40 postgraduate students to explore the cultural heritage of Tsuen Wan.

The tours were designed around key rural sites, allowing participants to visit momentous landmarks, traditional plantations, a local factory, a family ancestral hall, and the culture centre within Chuen Lung Tsuen, Tsuen Wan. Attendees were able to interact with local residents, gaining a deeper understanding of their way of life and the village's evolution over time.

The success of the tours demonstrated the value of this experiential learning. This event offered an engaging and informative journey for participants, deepening their understanding about Kong Kong’s history and culture. It enriched students’ educational experience and fostered a sense of belonging within the local community. Moreover, the tour raised awareness among Lingnanians about the village’s heritage and traditions of Hong Kong, emphasising the significance of safeguarding these legacies and ensuring the continuity of their cultural practices.  

The LEAP programme is dedicated to enriching postgraduate learning experiences and promoting the development of LU Graduate Attributes (focusing on knowledge, skills, and attitude) through various events and workshops. The enthusiasm of this event among students underscores the significance of such initiatives in fostering cultural awareness and understanding. The LEAP programme team looks forward to organising similar events in the future, continuing to broaden the perspectives of all participants.
