Student’s Chinese Composition “Honey, Tartary Buckwheat and Bear” Featured in Newspaper

We are delighted to announce that Song Chenming, a third-year Health and Social Services Management student, has had his LCC2010 in-class composition assignment, “Honey, Tartary Buckwheat and Bear”, published in the newspaper Ta Kung Pao (Page B2, 19 July 2023).

Tasked with the topic “The Outside World” in LCC2010 class, the author crafted a touching narrative of a young boy’s life with his grandparents. His tale contrasts the boy’s simple hometown with the wider world, weaving a narrative rich with the mixed flavours of growing up. Chenming’s composition, just like his teacher Mr. JIANG commented, is “creative and touching, balances a subtle colour of sadness with warm tenderness, all while hinting at a bittersweet emotion that is just right.” His work beautifully demonstrates the power of writing as a tool for expression and exploration. "We encourage all students to continue writing, to express themselves, and to explore their world through the written word." Mr. JIANG said.
