The Hong Kong Touch Art Festival Exhibition has been launched for three years and got an encouraging feedback from both artists and the public. In 2017, the 4th Hong Kong Touch Art Festival <Master of Cultural Studies (MCS) Programme, Lingnan University is one of the event sponsors> will be held from 17th to 26th February, at the L1 & L0 Galleries of Jockey Club Creative Arts Centre (JCCAC). The theme of the festival is “Mind’s Eye”, which aims to explore the ability of how human can experience imaginary. Exhibitions and workshops on touch-sensitive art works, creative works from both sighted and visually challenged artists will be open to the public.

The aesthetics of touch art emphasizes the sensory communication (non-visual) created through the process of touching the objects. It can be perceived through the shape and texture of the work, not its color, lines, composition and the space. Through touching the art, its texture, material, temperature, combining with the shape of the work, smell and sound (if any) would produce unlimited imagination. It is a form of art in which the visually challenged can participate, and we strongly encourage audiences to use all senses more than just the sight to explore and understand art.
