Introduction:

Professor CHEN Yi-feng, Nancy is Professor of Management at Lingnan University, Hong Kong. She previously served as Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies) and Chairperson of the Research and Postgraduate Studies Committee (RPSC) of the Business Faculty. She founded the Master of Science in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship program and co-founded the Master of Science in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior program.

 

Professor Chen serves as an expert member of the International and Professional Examinations Advisory Committee of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority. She is also a member of the Review Committee for the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) Local Self-financing Degree Sector Competitive Research Funding Scheme and a Consulting Editorial Board Member of Cross Cultural & Strategic Management. In 2019, she was honored with the title of “Minjiang Scholar.”

 

Her research focuses on proactive personality and behavior, cross-cultural management in joint ventures, cooperative and competitive relationships, conflict management, constructive controversy (open-minded dialogue), leadership and teamwork, and the role of Chinese values and thought in management. Professor Chen has published more than 40 articles in leading international academic journals, including Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Management Studies, and has co-authored more than 50 international conference papers. She has also published two books on conflict management.

 

Professor Chen has received numerous awards, including the Best Paper Award (Third Prize) at the 2017 China Marketing International Conference, the Best Paper Award at the 2017 Academy of Management Annual Meeting, the Outstanding Doctoral Research Award from Emerald Group Publishing and EFMD (2006), the Finalist Award for Best Doctoral Student Paper at the 4th Asia Academy of Management Conference (2004), and the Outstanding Paper Award at the 16th Annual IACM Conference (2003).

 

She has served as a consultant and trainer for government officials and enterprises, including China Mobile, China Unicom, and Huafu Securities, providing expertise in cross-cultural management, conflict management, leadership, teamwork, business etiquette, and stress management. She was the Principal Investigator of two business practice–oriented research projects funded by the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong. Her recent lead-authored article, “When There Is a Will There Is a Way: The Role of Proactive Personality in Combating COVID-19,” was published in the Journal of Applied Psychology and received extensive media coverage in both Chinese and English outlets.
