The Department is the latest establishment under the Faculty of Social Science. The primary focus of our faculty members’ research and teaching is to create understanding and to apply psychological principles to practical problems in different life domains, with an overarching theme in both teaching and research focusing on "Health and Well-being". Specific areas of research focus include Positive Occupational Health Psychology and Cross-cultural Psychology.

 

The Department offers a variety of courses, covering basic psychological principles and theories as well as advanced areas related to applied psychology. Basic courses include social psychology, developmental psychology, cognitive psychology, personality and individual differences, and research methods and statistics. Advanced courses include counselling psychology, stress and coping, psychology applied to occupational safety and health, and positive psychology. Graduates from the Department are expected to have solid understanding of the discipline of psychology and also have the competence of applying psychological knowledge in sensible ways.
