Service Practicum Programme 2025-26
The Service Practicum Programme (the Programme) invites students from the following Master’s Programmes:
o Master of Social Sciences in Health and Social Services Management
o Master of Science in Health Analytics and Management
o Master of Science in Smart Ageing and Gerontology
The objective of the program is to offer hands-on experience to LU master’s students interested in social service careers. Participants will collaborate with NGOs and relevant healthcare organizations in Hong Kong, enhancing their understanding of the local health and social services sector and aiding in their career planning.
The Programme is a non-credit bearing programme. Students are welcome to apply in the specified periods, but admission is subject to a competitive selection process due to limited spaces.
Mr. GYAMFI CHARLES KWAME RAHMAN (SAG) served at Jockey Club Gerontechnology and Smart Ageing in Place Project:
“In this service practicum, I supported educating people about smart aging, introducing young learners to ways they can manage issues that negatively affect aging. I believe this aligns well with our coursework, as it allows us to practice what we learn in class. It has made me realize that there is much to be done to assist both the elderly and the young, which can help shape the lives of young people.”

“This program really opened my eyes to the real-life situations and specific needs of the elderly in Hong Kong. It also gave me a clearer picture of the current social service system here. Because of this, I feel even more determined to work in social services in Hong Kong and contribute to addressing the challenges of an aging population.”
