Fees and Scholarships
- HK$200 per programme choice during the whole online application period.
- Applicants can settle the application fee by using a VISA/MasterCard credit card or UnionPay credit/debit card. You will receive an acknowledgement email once you have made the payment and submitted your application online.
- HK$230 per application, and should be payable when accepting a firm or conditional admission offer. (Information for 2026 will be available soon.)
For UGC-funded programmes
- For local students, the tuition fee is HK$47,000* for the 2026-27 academic year.
- For non-local students#, the tuition fee is HK$175,000 for the 2026-27 academic year.
Notes
Tuition fees are normally payable in two equal instalments at the start of the first and second terms of an academic year, unless stated otherwise.
*According to the UGC, the adjusted tuition fee levels for local students enrolled in full-time UGC-funded programmes will be HK$47,000 in the 2026/27 AY, and HK$49,500 in the 2027/28 AY.
#Non-local students are holders of:
Student visa / Entry permit
Visa / Entry permit under the Immigration Arrangements for Non-local Graduates (IANG)
Dependent visa / Entry permit issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR when they are 18 years old or above
- Fees for 2025-26 are under review and will be announced in due course.
- For reference, the hostel fee for students of UGC-funded undergraduate programmes in the 2024-25 academic year (excluding the summer term) ranges from around HK$11,490 to HK$15,540 per year; and HK$17,210 to HK$23,340 for students of self-financed undergraduate programmes.
- The hostel application process and the application outcomes will be available around July/August 2025. Students admitted by self-financed undergraduate programmes should consult the admitted programme regarding the availability of hostel places.
First Month
It is recommended that students prepare a budget of HK$4,500 - $5,000 to cover their first month's expenses.
Estimated Monthly Expenses
The estimated monthly expenses may vary depending on individual lifestyle and spending habits. The following table is provided for general reference only:

- JUPAS applicants achieving a total HKDSE score of 22 or above from the best five subjects and admitted to any of the University's JUPAS-participating programme will be awarded a single renewable or one-off scholarship. Details are shown in the table below.
- Renewable scholarship is tenable for a period of up to the normative duration of study, subject to the annual review of academic performance and other renewable criteria as stipulated in the terms and conditions of the scholarship.
- The total HKDSE score could be obtained from multiple sittings.

- Applicants admitted to any of the University's UGC-funded first-year programme achieving certain award criteria as shown in the table below will be awarded a single renewable or one-off scholarship.
Renewable scholarship is tenable for a period of up to the normative duration of study, subject to the annual review of academic performance and other renewable criteria as stipulated in the terms and conditions of the scholarship.

The Entrance Scholarship is designed to recognise and support exceptional incoming students. This scholarship rewards academic excellence and facilitates the transition of DSE, Associate Degree, and Higher Diploma graduates to degree-level study.
The scholarships will be awarded exclusively to incoming students majoring in Sociology, Health and Social Services Management, and Social and Public Policy Studies.
The Department of Sociology and Social Policy financially supports the scholarships.
