LU Disaster Recovery Site

Mitigating Risks During Disasters

In the Lingnan campus staff tenant, a disaster recovery (DR) site has been set up for domain controllers (DCs) and Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) in order to bring the following benefits to the University community:

  • Ensures business continuity by keeping critical services operational during failures, outages, or disasters, thereby providing seamless authentication and directory services uninterrupted.

  • Reduces downtime for users and applications by enabling failover to the DR site, making ADFS services accessible all the time for user authentication for web applications.

  • Enhances redundancy by distributing DCs and ADFS servers across different geographic locations, mitigating risks from natural disasters, power outages, or localized incidents.
