Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U)

Founded by President Bill Clinton in 2007, CGI University is a community of students who are taking action together on pressing challenges facing their campuses, communities, and the world. Through the Clinton Global Initiative’s power of convening and Commitment to Action model, more than 12,500 students have made an impact in over 160 countries and all 50 states — with the support of more than $4.8 million in funding from CGI University’s corporate and university partners. Now in its 18th year, CGI University’s year-round programme engages students, alumni, colleges and universities, and influential voices in creating new ways to effect change on the topics that matter most to emerging leaders.

CGI University

The Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI University) is an international year-round leadership development programme for undergraduate and graduate students that supports a community of student and alumni leaders and entrepreneurs from around the globe who are developing innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. This year-round engagement includes: a social impact curriculum, training and mentorship opportunities, and a wide range of networking opportunities with CGI University partners, peers, alumni, staff, and leaders in the field.

CGI Fellowship

The Clinton Global Initiative Fellowship is designed to engage meaningfully with and bring together, a relatively small, diverse community of doers committed to tackling the world’s most pressing challenges. Centered on CGI's Commitment to Action model, CGI Fellows recognize President Clinton’s legacy of public service, including the power of partnerships in addressing global challenges and fostering tangible change in their communities; they will also gain access to the esteemed CGI member community. The goal of the fellowship is to connect with socially minded entrepreneurs who will have a social impact business plan by the end of the fellowship.

CGI UNIVERSITY 2025

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of admission
• Individual/Group Application
• Application deadline: 20 December 2024
   

Approach:

Over the fully virtual programme course of the programme, rising leaders participate in trainings, modules, and tailored events that help formulate their ideas and provide the necessary resources, feedback, and tools to transform their ideas into action.
 

Accepted Students Receive Access To:

• CGI U’s social impact curriculum
• Interactive trainings and group mentorship
• Identification and growth of entrepreneurship and workforce development skills
• Development of early-stage social impact ideas into scalable projects and businesses
• Peer collaboration with a global exchange of ideas, comprised of diverse students from over 80 countries and across all types of higher education institutions
• Invitations to virtual events with best-in-class speakers

CGI FELLOWSHIP 2025

25 individuals (worldwide) will be selected to develop CGI Commitments to Action— new, specific, and measurable projects that advance solutions to critical challenges including the climate crisis, global health inequity, humanitarian crises. One-year fellowship experience is virtual except for the in-person CGI Annual Meeting in September in New York City, which all CGI Fellows are invited to attend, expenses covered for conference registration, travel expenses, meals and accommodation.
 

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the time of admission
• Commitment to Action that aligns with a CGI focus area
• Current resume or CV
• Responses to three essay prompts on entrepreneurship, leadership, and partnerships
• Letter of Recommendation (Provided by Office of Student Affairs)
• Application deadline: 20 December 2024
