Prof Morel Jean-Michel

Professor Morel Jean-Michel is Chair Professor in the Division of Industrial Data Science of the School of Data Science at Lingnan University. Prior to joining Lingnan University, he held Chair Professor in Mathematics positions at City University of Hong Kong, Université Paris-Saclay and Université Paris Sciences & Lettres. Professor Morel has published 8 books, 195 articles in international journals, 203 articles in proceedings of peer-reviewed international conferences and is the co-inventor of 15 patents. His Google Scholar h-index stands at 79, with over 52,000 citations. Professor Morel has currently served as Editor-in-Chief or Associate Editor for Springer Journal of Mathematical Imaging and Vision, Lectures Notes in Mathematics, Inverse Problems and Imaging, International Journal of Computer Vision, Image Processing on Line. As Principal Investigator, he has secured over HK$159 million in external funding, including a European Research Council advanced grant, 7 Office of Naval Research and 10 Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales grants. Professor Morel contributions have been honored with numerous national and international prizes, including the 1991 Prix de Mathématiques Philip Morris, 1992, the Prix CISI-ingéniérie de Mathématiques appliquées (French Academy of Science), the 1996 Prix Science et Défense (French Academy of Science), the 2012 Chinese-French competition for entrepreneurship and innovation award, the 2013 Grand Prix INRIA, French Academy of Science, the 2015 Médaille de l’Innovation du CNRS, the 2015 Longuet Higgins Computer vision IEEE prize.
