(Event Highlights: Lingnan University undergraduate students from the course VIS2107 Arts of Europe created drawings after their class visit to the exhibition Shine and Shade, Earth and Wood: The Story of Everyday Porcelain and Lacquer in 2025.)
With the help of professional artists and teaching staff, students and members of the public will discover Chinese art in a different way and create their own artwork using new and traditional materials. For families, art workshops were organized to let them explore Chinese culture together. They can discover the power of their own imagination by sketching exhibits and hunting for ancient materials in CYS Hall.
In addition, in partnership with Hong Kong’s NGOs, we engaged the public from diverse ethnicities to experience and dialogue with traditional Chinese art at CYS Hall. Engaging activities were conducted to enhance intercultural dialogue and diversity of cultural expressions and make the exhibitions of traditional Chinese art accessible to social minorities in Hong Kong and beyond.

Lectures serve as a platform for the Lingnan Community to foster a greater understanding of Chinese art, and closer cultural exchanges between the university and the globe. CYS Hall had hosted two Chamber of Young Snow Distinguished Lecture Series in 2024 and 2025, fostering intellectual, artistic, and cultural exchanges amongst museum professionals, researchers, and university students in Hong Kong and abroad.

CYS Hall is looking for passionate docents to help visitors learn how to visit and understand the Chinese art exhibits, allowing them to freely experience Chinese art and culture. Training will be offered on how to examine Chinese art from its historical origins to its modern significance. Keep an eye out for the upcoming Docent Training Program and join us to provide a remarkable cultural experience for our visitors.

As a research-based learning platform, CYS Hall offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge in various facets of curatorial work and museum operations for undergraduates and master’s students with a passion for museum studies, art history, and curatorial practices.
