Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) - Finance and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Innovative Design and Artificial Intelligence

A self-financed double degree programme: Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) – Finance (BBA-FIN) and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Innovative Design and Artificial Intelligence (BScIDAI) is jointly offered by the Faculty of Business (FB) and the School of Data Science (SDS) at Lingnan University. It is administered by the Department of Finance (FIN), facilitated by the Undergraduate Programmes Office (UPO) of the FB, and the Division of Industrial Data Science (DIDS) of the SDS to collaborate on curriculum development and industry engagement, including the design of experiential and project-based learning opportunities with external partners. The Programme addresses a clear skills gap at the intersection of financial decision-making and data-driven technologies.

Programme Highlights

Students complete two degress in four years, while most comparable double degrees in Hong Kong, China require five. The four-year pathway is the result of deliberate design rather than compression: the two degrees share their quantitative and computational foundations, selected courses count towards both degrees, and two structured summer terms in Years 2 and 3 to allow students to complete the credit requirements. Graduates enter the workforce a full year ahead of peers on five-year pathways.

This Programme is not two degrees placed side by side. Students take corporate finance, investment and portfolio management, and financial technology alongside machine learning, GPU and parallel computing, blockchain technology, human computer interaction, and systems integration, verification and validation. The two strands converge in a two-part capstone that runs across both terms of Year 4. In Capstone Project 1, AI-Enabled Innovation and Design, student teams frame a real financial problem and design a solution; in Capstone Project 2, Financial Innovation and Implementation, they build and evaluate a working prototype. Both are offered jointly by the FIN and the DIDS, under an academic supervisor and, where feasible, an industry mentor. Graduates leave with built work, not only a transcript.
