Programme Features
The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Translation programme provides students with a quality bilingual and cross-cultural education. On graduating, they will have a high level of linguistic awareness and competence in Chinese and English, in addition to a critical and creative mindset. In this programme, equal emphasis is placed on the academic and practical study of translation, to which students are introduced through a wide range of courses: different genres of specialised translation, interpreting, linguistics, translation theory, criticism, and history.
Innovative Curriculum Incorporating Corporate Communications and Technological Elements to Enhance Students' Competitiveness
Established in 1986, the Translation programme at Lingnan has undergone continual evolution for nearly four decades, training professsional translators with skills and knowledge that meet the needs of society and students. Examples of our latest innovative initiatives include the launching of 7 new courses in recent years, covering topics from corporate communications, project management, application of Artificial Intelligence, and more, to equip students for the workplace.

Nurturing a New Generation of Translation Professionals
The Translation Department focuses not only on students' bilingual abilities but also on their interdisciplinary knowledge, training students in both theoretical and practical aspects to achieve a high level of standard with enhanced critical thinking skills, nurturing well-rounded translation professionals. Emphasis is not just on sharpening language skills but also on broadening students' horizons, challenging the archaic belief that translation studies only leads to jobs in translation.
