Programme Features
The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) - Social and Public Policy Studies programme is jointly hosted by the Department of Economics and Department of Sociology and Social Policy. The programme provides interdisciplinary perspectives that will enhance students’ ability to analyse social and public policy issues, such as ageing, gender, the family, social inequality, social change, global and local health, education, public finance, housing, labour market, science, and technology. Student will learn to assess the impacts of government policy as well as demographic, technological, and social changes on businesses and the daily lives of people. On that basis, students can contribute to policy debate intelligently.

The programme has enriched my understanding of the policy-making process and the rationales behind it. Various social issues are covered, including housing issues and social welfare systems. Diverse service-learning activities have also inspired me to apply knowledge and concepts for analysing real cases or tailoring services to particular social groups.

#Students are required to take a total of five courses in the five cluster domains, namely Creativity and innovation, Humanities and the arts, Management and society, Science, technology, mathematics and society, Values, cultures and societies. *Students are required to attend a total of six language courses, four in English and two in Chinese / Putonghua.
