The Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries (DACI) is an interdisciplinary and innovative learning hub that encompasses a wide range of areas, including film and television, animation, museums and curating, art history, as well as digital arts and immersive media. We offer broad theoretical study and practical training for students seeking careers in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area's burgeoning creative and cultural industries.

Hong Kong is renowned for its diverse population and for embracing Eastern and Western traditions in arts, culture, and creative sectors. We give Hong Kong's young students quality education, research supervision, and career guidance to inspire them to go beyond their cultural roots and appreciate the diverse branches of the arts and creative industries. BA (Honours) in Animation and Digital Arts (ADA)

ADA

Introduction

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Animation and Digital Arts (ADA) at Lingnan University offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to creative arts education that fosters innovative thinking and creativity.

Striking a balance between technology and creativity, the Programme allows students to learn a wide range of essential knowledge from art history, film art, design to 2D and 3D animation as well as concepts and application of virtual reality. Students will receive comprehensive historical and technical training of animation and digital arts through hands-on learning and rigorous mentorship.

This major comprises three categories: Lingnan’s liberal arts core curriculum, subjects on the history of fine arts and moving images, and skill courses on animation and digital media.

ADA students are expected to develop their expertise in digital media with a solid liberal arts foundation. We prepare students for a competitive employment market and equip them for a professional pathway of their choice, through a collection of electives in animation, digital art installation and other fields of creative media.

BA (Honours) in Film and Visual Arts (FVA)

Introduction

The curriculum of Film and Visual Arts adopts a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to the historical and theoretical study of visual arts, focusing on film art and art history. The programme structure encompasses survey and advanced courses addressing specialized topics, periods, cultures, and issues to create a progressive learning model.

Historical awareness and analytical skills are integral to the curriculum, accompanied by practice-based courses, including computer art, studio practice, film production, curating, and internships. The fourth-year capstone project synthesizes the programmes’ analytical and practical components, enabling students to develop a research, creative or curatorial project under supervision in the final year of their study.

BA (Honours) in Creative Media Industries (CMI)

Introduction

The Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Creative Media Industries Programme aims to provide a wide theoretical study and practical training for students who seek careers in the booming creative media industries in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. The interdisciplinary curriculum includes theoretical courses in media studies, business and management studies, and visual arts studies, as well as hands-on opportunities for digital media production, game design, and VR and AR workshops.

The design of the curriculum emphasizes both the current global trends in the creative media industries as well as the specific context of the local industries, including the established film industry and growing art market. The internship and capstone projects enable students to turn the knowledge and skills learned from the courses into practice, and strengthen their understanding to become ready to enter the creative media industries.
