Application Procedures

Step 1:
Consult with your study abroad advisor or academic advisor at your home institution before applying.

Step 2:
Once nominated by your home institution, you will receive an invitation to complete an online application. An email will provide your username and password. Please read the user guide carefully and follow the instructions to complete your application.

Step 3:
In the Online Application System, indicate the list of courses you intend to study at Lingnan. For course details, please refer to the Academic Studies section.

Step 4:
After completing your online application, print a copy and seek endorsement from your home institution (Part K). Send the endorsed application form along with a Student Visa Application Form via international courier before the application deadline.

Step 5:
Upon successful application, you will receive an electronic letter of acceptance through the Online Application System.

Important: All applicants must follow their home institution's selection process. The Exchange Coordinator will endorse successful applicants and nominate them to OGE, Lingnan University. OGE will ensure nominees meet the minimum admission requirements, and acceptance will be approved by the Associate Vice-President (Academic Quality Assurance and Internationalization).

Student Visa for Education in Hong Kong

Before arriving in Hong Kong, you must obtain a student visa from the Immigration Department if:

• You wish to enter Hong Kong for educational purposes

• You do not have the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong

   

Application Procedures

Step 1:
Complete the Student Visa Application Form (ID995A) in BLOCK LETTERS, attaching:

• A recent photograph
• Photocopies of your travel document, including personal particulars and any re-entry visa (if applicable)

• Evidence of financial standing (see notes below)

   

Important: : Please ensure you complete the form carefully to avoid delays. Submit the completed form along with your Exchange Application Form. Do NOT send your visa application directly to the Immigration Department.

Notes:

1. Your travel document (e.g., passport) must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay.
2. If you do not have an income, please provide proof of your parents' financial standing (e.g., recent bank statements) and a letter confirming they will support your expenses, along with a copy of their ID.

Step 2:
Lingnan will complete Form ID995B as your sponsor and submit all documents to the Immigration Department on your behalf. Processing typically takes 4-6 weeks.

Step 3:
Upon approval, Lingnan will send you the Notification Slip for Entry Visa/Permit via email.

Step 4:
When you receive your Notification Slip, save it on a mobile device or bring a printed copy. Present this document to the Immigration officer upon entry to ensure you are granted student status.

Visa Application Fees

A non-refundable fee of HK$230 is charged for the student visa application. This payment is made via the Online Application System upon acceptance.

Conditions for Student Visa Holders

The Immigration Department stipulates that students:
(a) must enroll at a specified institution and undertake an approved course of study;
(b) must not take any employment or establish/join any business.
