Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours)
Our BBA programmes proceed from university required courses, and a foundation in the essential business disciplines, to exposure within a chosen specialist area of business, and culminating in a capstone course, designed to facilitate the integration of the various specialisms through joint problem solving and decision-making. The sequence of the curriculum from year to year is intended to help students to experience a sense of intellectual progress and to build their confidence in tackling increasingly complex problems.
The core elements of our curriculum require students independently to formulate conceptual models, to integrate and synthesise knowledge, ideas and information, and, on these bases, to generate solutions to problems in a variety of fields especially the field of business. The approach facilitates the development of the conceptual framework essential for the analysis of problems on an integrated basis. The relatively small class sizes (usually below 35) of business courses encourage the development of close staff-student and student-student relationships, which are a hallmark of liberal arts teaching and learning. Many business courses contribute to the building of broad-based generic skills through the adoption of team-based in-class activities and team-based out of class assignments, culminating in oral presentations and written project reports.
Graduates from the BBA (Hons) programmes will have received a broad-based education. They will also have followed an area of concentration and thus will be well placed in the job market.
