Overview
The Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) - Psychology programme offers comprehensive undergraduate training to students interested in learning about psychology and its application. Students will acquire foundational knowledge in courses such as Introduction to Psychology, Biological Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, and Research Methods and Statistics for Psychology. At the advanced level, students will learn to apply psychology knowledge in subjects such as Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Health Psychology, Environmental Psychology, Stress management, Positive Psychology. Through training in knowledge and application, graduates are prepared to be critical users of psychological science in everyday life.
Programme Highlights
Students may opt to graduate with the Concentration in Counselling Psychology or the Concentration in Industrial and Organisational (I-O) Psychology upon completion of a set of specialised courses.
Career Prospects
Our graduates can be found in a wide range of sectors: community and social services, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), teachers/educational personnel in the education sector, business services and communications in commerce and various industries, among others.
Others pursue postgraduate studies: clinical psychology, educational psychology, counselling psychology, social work, to list a few, in local or overseas universities.
The majority of psychology graduates successfully secured full-time employment within three months after graduation.

Studying Psychology at Lingnan University has been an incredibly rewarding journey, far exceeding what I have expected. Through courses covering branches such as social psychology, cognitive psychology, and clinical psychology, I have developed a comprehensive understanding of human behavior, cognition, and emotions. This programme offers diversified learning opportunities for us to broaden our horizons. Engaging in theoretical coursework and hands-on research projects has definitely enhanced my analytical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. The time I spent at Lingnan University was an unforgettable experience in my life. Its small class size has enabled me to have closer contact with professors and made more friends. The professors in the Department of Psychology are kind and knowledgeable. They have shared with me their research experience and encouraged me to pursue my goal towards a PhD. Their words have truly boosted my confidence and helped me to stay motivated. The campus is so beautiful and well-constructed. The hostels are surrounded by mountains and trees. Every time I looked out of the window, I felt peaceful, and my pressure lifted. The library is my favorite place, where I can always find a quiet and bright place to study with various learning resources. The treasured experience I've had in Lingnan has led me to my postgraduate studies in mental health at the University of Warwick. It has equipped me with knowledge and a positive attitude to always keep on track.

It has been my honour to be a part of the Department of Psychology at Lingnan University. The prestigious opportunities have developed my mental, physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual health, equipping me for my postgraduate studies in Canada and my future career. With the close staff-student relationships, the professors and teachers provide guidance to all students throughout our studies to ensure that every student is gaining the most. There are numerous internships available in and outside of Hong Kong, as well as exchange semesters and other cultural exchange experiences provided by the Department and the University. I have developed strong critical thinking and leadership skills through these opportunities.
