Jessica Siu-yin Yeung’s research focusses on fiction and film in twentieth-century Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China, especially cultural memory and intertextuality. Her guest-edited special issue about East Asian comedy film and media, Comedies in East Asian Media: Laughing in Bitter Times, was published at Archiv orientální in 2022. She has published in Archiv orientální, Journal of World Literature, Humans at Work in the Digital Age (Routledge), Cultural Conflict in Hong Kong (Palgrave Macmillan), a/b: Auto/Biography Studies, and Virginia Woolf Miscellany. She is now working on a few essays on Hong Kong and Taiwan literature and cinema during the Cold War and a book on semiotics, queerness, and allegory in Taiwan and Hong Kong novels and cinema.
