Both internship experiences provided me a comprehensive understanding of the local art scene, including the nature and operation of different institutions, as well as their artistic interests.

As a student of the Department of Visual Studies, I have been given various practical opportunites to enhance my competitiveness beyond the lectures, especially through internships. The experience helps students widen exposure through the initiative of ‘learning through contribution’. I am grateful for the internship opportunities I have had, first as a summer intern at Asia Society Hong Kong Center’s Program (Arts & Culture), and then in 2018 as a Program Intern at 1a Space in the Cattle Depot Artist Village.

Both internship experiences provided me a comprehensive understanding of the local art scene, including the nature and operation of different institutions, as well as their artistic interests. Through engaging with diverse exhibition projects, I had the opportunity to collaborate with art professionals, curators, producers, and artists. These experiences not only helped me gain practical competencies in exhibition-making and public art events, but more importantly, they allowed me to better envision and position myself in the ever-changing art industry.

Furthermore, internship experiences also expanded my networks in the art field. I am honored to have received many opportunities to engage with different art projects and participate in the major art events in Hong Kong, such as Art Basel Hong Kong, West Kowloon Art Festival, and ifva Festival.
