The Department of Management was honoured to welcome Prof. Hong DENG for an academic seminar entitled
“When Do People Prefer to Be Asked or Told?” — The “Lock-and-Key” Model of Advice Acceptance and the Publication Journey in JAP.

On November 11, 2025, the “ESG Compliance and Value Empowerment Workshop” successfully concluded in Hong Kong, jointly organized by CECEPEC and Wonderful Sky Financial Group. The event aimed to help enterprises enhance ESG governance, achieve regulatory compliance, and create long-term value. It gathered leaders from government, finance, and academia to share insights on sustainable development, green finance, and climate action.
 

On Saturday, 1 November, the Department of Management proudly welcomed hundreds of enthusiastic visitors to our dynamic booth at Info Day. The atmosphere was electric—filled with engaging conversations, interactive experiences, and the irresistible aroma of freshly popped popcorn.

Guests explored a variety of activities, including personality assessments and one-on-one consultations with our dedicated faculty members, offering a firsthand look into the distinctive features of our BBA (Hons) in Management & Analytics programme.

A highlight of the day was our admission talk, where attendees discovered how the programme equips students to lead with data, make informed decisions, and drive meaningful change in today’s business landscape.

The popcorn machine added a touch of fun, drawing smiles and laughter, while the entire space buzzed with curiosity, connection, and inspiration.

On 22 October 2025, students from Lingnan University’s Department of Management visited Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) for an exclusive learning experience hosted by the Airport Authority Hong Kong.

The visit featured a presentation on HKIA’s future development and people strategies, followed by tours of the Innovation Lab and Community Building. Students saw how technologies like Digital Twin, IoT, and Robotics are reshaping airport operations.

The day concluded with afternoon tea and a look into HKIA’s staff wellness initiatives, including sports facilities, childcare services, and rest areas—showcasing how innovation and care come together in the workplace.

What a fantastic start to the new academic year! Our Mingling Session was filled with fresh faces, vibrant energy, and team spirit—especially during the fun-filled Card Castle Challenge.

Students from the BBA (Hons) in Human Resource Management and Analytics & Human Resource Management and Entrepreneurship came together to build more than just card towers—they built connections, shared ideas, and created lasting memories.

We are proud to announce that our PhD students, Ms. XU Qianqian (Year 2) and Ms. DENG Jiayin (Year 1), have been honored with the Outstanding Doctoral Proposal Awards at the 2025 Industrial and Organizational Psychology Frontier Research Forum.

We are excited to share that Prof. Zhang Hong, Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Management, and her research team have received the prestigious Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Excellence in Work-Family Research 2025 for their pioneering study in the field of work-family dynamics. This international award, conferred by Purdue University’s Centre for Families and Boston College’s Centre for Work and Family, recognises the most outstanding interdisciplinary contributions to work-family research.

On 10 May 2025, we welcomed Prof. Zhen Zhang, O. Paul Corley Distinguished Chair in Organizational Behavior and Administration at Southern Methodist University (SMU), for a captivating seminar on "Testing Reverse Causality". Prof. Zhen Zhang shared his expertise on the challenges of reverse causality and introduced innovative machine learning techniques that can enhance our understanding of causal relationships in management. 

Huge congratulations to Henna LIU Yeuk Tung, our talented third-year HRM student from the Department of Management, who has emerged as Hong Kong’s winning contestant in the 19th Miss Global City Pageant! 

On 25 March 2025, we welcomed Professor Robert C. Liden (University of Illinois Chicago) for an enlightening session on servant leadership—a transformative approach that puts followers' needs first. From cross-cultural studies to its impact on firm performance, the seminar revealed how servant leadership transforms workplaces globally.

Hosted by the Office of the Core Curriculum, Prof. Liane LEE delved into the cutting-edge topic of how AI is revolutionising recruitment processes and understanding the latest trends in AI-driven recruitment. The session was filled with practical tips and hands-on practice in using AI in job hunting, including responsible and ethical use of AI during the job application process.

On February 21 2025, we had the honor of welcoming Mr. Simon Beeson, a seasoned leader in transformation and change management, for our HRM2200 Human Resource Planning and Staffing guest lecture!  Mr. Simon Beeson's expertise and insights in HR ERP systems implementation and the crucial role of managing the audience’s needs in the change have left a lasting impact on our students. 

On December 6, 2024, we had the honor of welcoming Prof. Zhang Xin, who shared her valuable insights during our recent seminar, 'Reflections and Experience on Applying for the NSFC Programme.' Her practical advice on proposal writing and funding strategies was truly inspiring for everyone!

Lingnan Discovery Day wrapped up successfully on 2 November 2024. Thank you to all the parents and students who visited our popcorn stand, consultation room, and Admission Talk for the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) in Human Resource Management and Analytics (HRMA) programme (Jupas Code: JS7214). Congratulations to Assistant Professor (Presidential Early Career Scholar) of Department of Management, Professor LEE Xue Ren, Randy, on winning the Young Researcher Output Award at the Research & Knowledge Transfer Excellence Awards Presentation Ceremony 2024. This recognition celebrates outstanding achievements in academic research and knowledge transfer, underscoring the valuable contributions of Lingnan staff towards improving community well-being and advancing society.

On August 27, 2024, we were privileged to welcome Prof. Tae-Yeol Kim from the China Europe International Business School. With a wealth of experience in management research, Prof. Kim delved into the intriguing topic of self-presentation in the workplace.

We had the honour of hosting Professor Kenneth S. Law, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Management at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, on August 19th. Professor Law delivered a thought-provoking seminar on 'Conceptualization & Association in Business Research' that left a lasting impression on all attendees.

Exciting insights from Professor Abhishek Sheeta of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University! On June 17, 2024, he visited Lingnan University's Department of Management to share his groundbreaking research on AI and management science.

Professor LAM Tak-ming, Eric and Professor XIE Nina have been honored with the Teaching Excellence Awards 2023/24. These awards stand as a testament to their commitment and outstanding performance in the realm of teaching. 

Mr. Johnson Lau, Executive Director and Head of HR & Administration at Eddid Financial Holdings, shared the secrets to successful job searching, including essential topics such as writing impactful application emails (cover letter & resume), pre-interview preparation, understanding interviewers, and common interview questions. Thanks to the expertise of Mr. Johnson Lau, our fellow students gained invaluable insights and practical techniques that give them a competitive edge in the candidate selection process.

What an incredible day of connection and inspiration at the Undergraduate Meetup and ITP Mentoring Kickoff Lunch Gathering on 3rd March 2024!

We were thrilled to see our HRM students and faculty members come together to foster new connections, exchange ideas, and embark on a journey of personal and professional growth.

This event also marked the exciting launch of the ITP Mentoring Program 2024, where our students will receive invaluable guidance and support from experienced mentors from Institute of Training Professionals (培訓專業學會), empowering them to navigate their career paths with confidence.

The Future HR Talents Hackathon 2023/24, hosted by the HKMA Human Capital Management Society, invited one team from each Hong Kong university, consisting of 2-4 Year 2 to Year 4 business major undergraduates, with at least half majoring in Human Resources. Teams competed for Champion, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up, and Best Presentation Awards. Our HRM students, Tsang Tsz Suet, Wu Yeuk Nam, and Lam Wing Yan (all Year 4), received a Merit Award scholarship.

We're still buzzing with excitement from the electrifying energy and enthusiasm that filled the room during captivating memoir talk given by Professor Mike Crant, the Notre Dame Professor of Management and Organization and the Distinguished Research Scholar at Lingnan University’s Department of Management. 

Our department was privileged to host an insightful research sharing seminar featuring Professor Eric Adom Asante from the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration, Hong Kong Metropolitan University.

We were honoured to host Prof. Cynthia Lee from Northeastern University, US Boston, for an insightful seminar on “Feeling Possessive, Performing Well? Effects of Job-Based Psychological Ownership on Territoriality, Information Exchange, and Job Performance” on November 7th, 2023. 

Prof. Lee Xue Ren Randy, for receiving the prestigiousEarly Career Award at the Research Grants Council (RGC) Award Presentation Ceremony 2023/24!  Held on November 2, 2023, this ceremony celebrated the remarkable achievements of researchers in their respective fields.

We're thrilled to share that Prof. Lee's proposal scored the full mark and his outstanding education plan has been recognized. Out of the numerous talented researchers across the eight UGC-funded universities, only 7 recipients were honored with this distinguished award in this round, and Prof. Lee is one of them. We couldn't be prouder!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Wong Yuk Shan, the Chairman of the RGC, for presenting Prof. Lee with this well-deserved recognition. This achievement stands as a testament to Prof. Lee's exceptional dedication and contributions to the field of Management.

Prof. LAM Tak-ming, Eric, the Director of Entrepreneurship Education in the Faculty of Business, Associate Director of the Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies, Programme Director of the DBA in Global Digital Economy and Governance Programme, and the Associate Professor of Teaching in the Department of Management was invited to deliver a keynote speech at the 26th Seminar for Senior Administrators from the East Guangdong Region.

This event themed "Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Talent Development" was jointly organized by Lingnan University and the Federation of Hong Kong Chiu Chow Community Organization, aiming to foster exchange and collaboration between scholars and senior executives from both regions. As an expert in the field of business and entrepreneurship, Prof. Lam shared his invaluable insights and expertise with participants and explored the latest developments in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation. In his engaging presentation, Prof. Lam delved into the crucial role that entrepreneurship education plays in nurturing talent and driving entrepreneurial endeavors.

The event facilitated meaningful interactions between participants from educational institutions, businesses, and entrepreneurial communities, highlighting the transformative potential of collaborations between educational institutions and industry stakeholders in creating an ecosystem that empowers aspiring entrepreneurs, fosters innovation, and drives economic growth.

To promote academic exchange and consolidate collaborations between higher education institutions in the Mainland and Hong Kong, Prof. CHEN Yifeng, Nancy, Professor of the Department of Management and the Associate Dean (Research and Postgraduate Studies) of Business Faculty at Lingnan University, was invited to engage in an exchange of insights and expertise with Prof. ZHOU Qingan, Professor & Dean of School of Journalism and Communications at Tsinghua University.

Their discussions centered around promoting collaboration between Hong Kong and Mainland higher education institutions, while fostering an understanding of the evolving landscape and future development of journalism education in both regions. The enriching exchanges during this visit also highlighted the immense potential to expand cooperation and synergy between journalism and business management in various domains, including teaching, student training, research, and co-operative education.
 

This event exemplifies our commitment to nurturing an environment that encourages interdisciplinary cooperation and fosters collaboration, innovation, and academic excellence.

The Future HR Talents Hackathon 2022 was hosted by the HKMA Human Capital Management Society. This year, each University in Hong Kong would be invited to nominate a team (one team per university). Each team was comprised of two to four participants, who were in Year 2 to Year 4 business major full- time undergraduate students (with at least half of the team members were studying Human Resources as major or as concentration). All teams would then compete with each other for the “Champion, 1st runner up, 2nd runner up and a Best Presentation Award”. Our HRM Students, LAM Wing Ki (Year 4), LEE Cheuk Wun (Year 4) and CHONG Yuen Yau (Year 3) received the 1st Runner Up at the Future HR Talents Hackathon 2022.

In late May 2022, a team of four Lingnan University (LU) Business students triumphed over seven top student teams in Hong Kong, including those from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and The University of Hong Kong, to become the Champion of the CGMA Global Business Challenge for the Hong Kong region. As champions, the LU team earned the opportunity to represent Hong Kong in the subsequent North Asia final.

Known as Team 404, the LU team comprises Lau Lok-tin (Year 3 BBA-Finance), Lee Cheuk-wun (Year 4 BBA-Human Resource Management), Chong Yuen-yau (Year 3 BBA-Human Resource Management), and Aaron Cheuk Hiu-fung (Year 3 BBA-Marketing).
