Barnes Strikes Late for Lucky Mile

Lingnan second year BBA student Edouard J.P.C. Barnes has just scored his first league goal for Hong Kong Football Club’s “Lucky Mile” in a bottom of the table First Division clash with Kwun Tong at Happy Valley. The goal came late on in the 86th minute and within 8 minutes of him making an appearance from the bench. The late strike was crucial, enabling “Mile” to run out 2-1 winners and move out of the relegation zone.
Talking after the game, Ed said:
It was a close game. I have come a long-way from Europe to study at Lingnan. This first goal means a lot, as I have had a terrible time needing surgery on injuries suffered when I was 11 years old while playing at the Sheffield United FC Academy, and later I was out for a full year during the first year of my two-year apprenticeship at Chesterfield FC, prior to coming to Hong Kong. When playing in England I typically averaged a goal a game, so it was nice to get on the end of the pass and finish this one to take my tally to 1 (goal) in 2 full games equivalent.
I am grateful to Chesterfield FC for encouraging me to play in Hong Kong and I appreciate the kind entry Sports Scholarship that I received at Lingnan during Year 1. I am still finding my feet and need to get more game time before I can hopefully evolve as a player and make a bigger impact.
