New ERP System to Replace Banner HR and Finance Modules

The current Ellucian Banner ERP System, including the Student, HR, Finance, and Advancement modules, has been in use since 2004. It is obvious that the system has reached its technological limits in supporting the growing complexity in our operations and providing modern capabilities for advanced functionality and scale.  Many essential features crucial for daily university operations are missing. For instance, the HR module lacks features like position management, human capital management, legal compliance, and approval workflows to support efficient HR operations. Similarly, in the Finance modules, basic functions such as purchasing, e-claims, and payments are not adequately provided.

To enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness, streamline administrative processes, empower every colleague with smart tools, and enable capabilities such as AI-driven automation and analytics, the University will replace Banner in phases, starting with HR and Finance in the more immediate future.

The tendering process for a new ERP System has started, and the migration of HR and Finance modules is scheduled for FY2025/26, while the Banner ERP will remain in use during the transition period.

The new ERP system promises enhanced operational efficiency, scalability, improved user experience, AI-enabled functions, data security, legal compliance, advanced analytics and reporting tools, streamlined workflows, integration capabilities, and reduced maintenance and support challenges.

The new system will benefit all colleagues, not only those in HRO and FO. After the contract is awarded through the tendering process, the University will invite relevant colleagues from different units to workshops to share their pain points and shape ideal processes, followed by tailored training to help you transition to the new workflows.
