Landscape Management Policy

The University takes the conservation of land and ecosystems to heart and makes sustainable decisions to protect the natural environment on and around campus. To reduce the impact of alien species on campus, a strategic approach is taken to prioritize the planting and maintenance of native tree species. Currently, more than 40% of the campus trees are native species, chosen specifically to support local biodiversity by attracting birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.

We plan and design new constructions and buildings in accordance with the Buildings Department’s Sustainable Building Design Guidelines and incorporate local biodiversity into all planning and development processes. The University identifies, monitors, and protects any species listed on the IUCN Red List or national conservation lists that inhabit areas affected by campus operations. Certified arborists conduct regular inspections of Incense Trees and other tree species to ensure effective conservation practices and maintain the ecological integrity of the campus.
