With the University’s motto "Education for Service", community service is always an integral part of campus life. The University tries every means to provide students with not only opportunities for participation in an active campus life but also experiences to care for the welfare of the community. With the theme "Care for Community^．See the Connections", the Lingnan C_♥Connects Programme aims to:

1.  raise the level of social awareness of students and encourage them to care for the community;

2.  help students to develop a right attitude in life;

3.  learn about people from different walks of life;

4.  enhance students’ organisational, management and communication skills;

5.  connect students’ experiences, own potentials and lifelong goals.

2. Agency for Volunteer Service (AVS) (義務工作發展局)
   • Lingnan University is a Corporate Member (團體會員) of AVS.  Lingnan students can join AVS’ listed volunteer services for free.
   • Browse the website of AVS for the volunteer services that you are interested in: https://www.volunteering.org.hk/campaign_search 
   • Download the application form here in order to apply for the volunteer services that you wish to join.  Return the completed application form to AVS via [email protected] for their processing (Corporate Membership Number of Lingnan: CM000479) and copy to [email protected]
     • AVS will generally process the application and inform the applicants with the result in 3 working days.  Successful applicants will then receive a “Confirmation Email” from AVS around 1 week before the volunteer services, delineating the details and arrangement of the volunteer services.  Please attend the volunteer services as scheduled and in a punctual manner.
3. The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) (香港青年協會)
   • HKFYG Easy Volunteer (好易配) is a platform connecting volunteers and providing service opportunities to organisations. You are encouraged to set up a personal account at Easy Volunteer and enrol the volunteer opportunities available on the platform. (Remarks: To enable OSA to apply for local recognition programs on your behalf with the highest possible service hours, we highly encourage you to register on easyvolunteer.hk ("好易配") and link your personal account to Lingnan University's account. This will allow us to submit both your service hours from the Lingnan C.Connects Programme and your external service hours recorded on Easy Volunteer for volunteer hour award applications. 4. You are always encouraged to participate in many other volunteer services which are arranged on your own.
5. You are most welcome to regularly look for available volunteer services opportunities below for short term volunteer experience. 

Recognitions

Devoted C_♥Connects Crew Members will be recognised!

• Outstanding and devoted C.Connects Crew Members will be nominated for eligible local recognition programmes such as The HKFYG "Easy Volunteer" Volunteer Service Award and Hong Kong Volunteer Award (Individual Award).  
• The service hours will be counted and accumulated based on the assessment criteria of different recognition programmes.
• For the application of some of the local recognition programmes, OSA will need to submit your personal particulars including names, gender, year of birth and email addresses. OSA will email you to ask for your consent to the usage of your personal particulars before application.  
• To enable OSA to apply for local recognition programs on your behalf with the highest possible service hours, we highly encourage you to register on easyvolunteer.hk ("好易配") and link your personal account to Lingnan University's account. This will allow us to submit both your service hours from the Lingnan C.Connects Programme and your external service hours recorded on Easy Volunteer for volunteer hour award applications. How my service hours will be counted?

Structured Community Services Programmes

• For C♥Connects Crew Members who have successfully completed the entire structured community services programme(s), the Office of Student Affairs will arrange to collect the service record(s) from the cooperating organisation(s) and the service hours contributed will be automatically recorded by the end of each term.
• Submission of supporting documents will not be necessary.

• For C♥Connects Crew Members:
  If you have successfully completed self-arranged volunteer services or community services not registered via OSA (including those under AVS’ listed volunteer services using Lingnan’s Corporate Membership Number CM000479), please submit the following to [email protected] within one month of service completion:
   
  • A completed HKFYG Volunteer Record Form ("青協義工記錄證明表格")
  • Supporting Documents (either one of the following):
    - A certificate/letter from the organising organisation with details of the volunteer service and confirmed service hours
    - Any other documentary proof that can verify your participation and service hours
• Your submission will be reviewed and, if approved, endorsed within ~10 working days. You will receive a follow-up email regarding the endorsement status.
• Important Notes for Award Applications:
  1. To allow OSA to apply for volunteer hour awards on your behalf (e.g., HKFYG "Easy Volunteer" Service Award or Hong Kong Volunteer Award - Individual Award), ensure the most updated external service records are submitted by Early August and Early December. 
  
  2. If your total volunteer hours in OSA’s records meet the award criteria, OSA will nominate you for the respective awards.

1. WHO could apply?
   • Full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students of all years (C♥Connects crew membership will last for whole study period at Lingnan)
   • Enthusiastic in serving the community
2. WHAT do we expect from applicants?
   • Applicants should have a keen interest in serving the community.
   • Once enrolled, applicants should be committed to the training programmes and community service programmes / volunteer services and never be absent without unexcused reason.
3. HOW to apply?
   • To join us as C_♥Connects crew, interested parties are welcome to click here for online application.
   • Successful applicants will receive email confirmation.
4. WHAT should I be aware of?
   • Updates of the Lingnan C_♥Connects Programme (e.g. application schedules of various structured community service projects / community service awards / scholarships / international conferences & programmes) will be disseminated to C_♥Connects crew via emails from time to time. C_♥Connects crew are highly recommended to check your Lingnan email account regularly and make sure it is ready for receiving new emails.
