Recognition Scholarships and Awards Administered by the University

If the value of an award exceeds HK$13,000, the scholarship shall be open for application. This may not apply to some donations where the donor has established an approval procedure, which we have to follow.  A Standing Panel of Scholarships will be set up responsible for the selection.

A range of entrance scholarships are available to support high-calibre local and non-local students.  Lingnan University Non-local Student Scholarship supports outstanding international students to receive university education, including those from low and lower-middle income countries.

1. Year 1 full-time undergraduate students, pursuing their first undergraduate degree immediate succeeding completion of their senior secondary school education.

2. The awardees should be permanent resident of Hong Kong.

3. The awardees should achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.00 in 1st term.

4. The awardees should demonstrate a record of community service or charitable work, undertaken prior to their application of the Scholarship.

The Scholarhip Scheme aims to develop professionals in the insurance sector who pursue higher education in the University’s Risk and Insurance Management (“RIM”) Programme.

No. of Awards and Amount: (A) Recognition Scholarships - HK$42,100 each for maximum 9 students from Year 2 to Year 4 ; (B) MSc Overseas Scholarships - approximately HK$450,000 each for maximum 2 final year students.

1. The Prizes shall be awarded to 3 full-time undergraduate students in the programme of

1.2 Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Accounting or Finance (for students starting at the “Management Learning Level” to acquire the CIMA Advance Diploma of Management Accounting upon completion of the Management Case Study Exam).

2. The students should have achieved outstanding academic performance with Accountancy and Finance courses. If there are candidates of comparable academic merits, their involvement in extra-curricular activities should also be taken into consideration.

The Scholarships aim to support undergraduate and postgraduate students in fulfilling their early careers in curating by acquiring professional skills and gaining work experiences in museums, galleries and/or cultural institutions through short-term curatorial programmes or internships.

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarships shall be awarded to full-time Year 3 and Year 4 undergraduate students, majoring in the BA (Honours) in Visual Studies and full time students studying in research postgraduate programme in the Department of Visual Studies.

2. Awardees in undergraduate programme should have achieved a CGPA of 3.0 or above, together with an average GPA of 3.0 or above in curatorial-related courses (please see the regulations for details). 

3. Awardees in postgraduate programme should have confirmed their candidatures.  If the internships will be taken up during their study periods, the approval from their chief supervisors must be sought.

4. Each applicant should have obtained an admission offer of a short-term curatorial programme or a job offer of curatorial internship issued by museums, galleries and/or cultural institutions in Hong Kong, mainland China or abroad during his/her study at Lingnan University.

No. of Award(s) and Amount:  Ranging from HK$15,000 to HK$50,000 for each student, with a total value of the Scholarships is HK$120,000 per annum.

Applications should be submitted to the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) by the deadline as listed.  OSA will arrange selection interview if necessary.

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarship shall be awarded to 2 Year 2 or Year 3 full-time local students, one from the LEO Dr David P. Chan Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Data Science Programme and another from the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Global Liberal Arts Programme or Bachelor Liberal Arts (Honours) in Global Development and Sustainability Programme.

2. The awardee should achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.50 in the previous academic year; students who have achieved CGPA of 3.3-3.4 will also be considered if they are highly recommended by their Departments.

3. Awardees shall not concurrently hold other academic scholarships during the year except scholarships for student development programmes, such as student exchange, internship, Service-Learning or hostel life.

1. The Awards shall be awarded to 2 students regardless of their residency status, who are full-time final-year students in BBA – Accountancy Stream or students in Master of Accountancy Programme. 

2. The selection criteria for the Award shall be based on the applicants’ latest overall academic results, their fulfillment of the admission requirements for the Associate Membership of CPA Australia, and their intention to pursue CPA Australia qualification.

3. Awardees should redeem the Award by enrolling the CPA Australia Membership by the end of July each year.

4. Awardees shall not hold the Award concurrently with any scholarship offered by other accounting professional bodies.

Eligibility and Criteria:

1. The Scholarships shall be awarded to 1 full-time, local Year 2-3 undergraduate (UG) student and 1 Year 2 or above research postgraduate (RPg) student (within the normal study period) from the Department of History in each academic year.

2. The UG and RPg nominees are required to submit a Statement of Purpose to the Donor during the nomination process, illustrating how they are going to utilize the Scholarship and how will they be benefited from the Scholarship.

3. Awardees must not hold other scholarships of comparable amount concurrently.

4. If there are no suitable UG and/or RPg candidate(s) for nomination for the academic year concerned, at the Donor’s discretion, the UG and/or RPg quota(s) shall be carried forward to the next academic year.

5. The UG awardee must have outstanding academic achievement with a CGPA of 3.0 or above.

6. If there are candidates of comparable academic performance, priority shall be given to local students with greater financial needs, or more commitment in community services.

For nomination of RPg student

7. The RPg awardee must be evaluated and indicated by his/her Supervisor in the annual Progress/Assessment Report as “Satisfied” or “Very satisfied” with the student’s progress.

8. If there are candidates of comparable academic progress, priority shall be given to candidates with more publications in top academic journals in the field of History or have more presentations at international conferences.
