Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS)

 

The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) established by the Research Grants Council (RG) of the HKSAR Government in 2009 aims to attract the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong.  We are pround that the following seven students were selected for this prestigious Award.

The Most Distinguished Student of the University, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship for Mainland Student, AY2020-21

 

Mr. Chandra Sonal, Major in Economics, received the Most Distinguished Student of the University Award 2021-21 AY for his excellent academic achievement, leadership and his contribution to the University and the Hong Kong Community, while the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship for Mainland Student went to the only one awardee, Ms. Chen Yuhui, Major in Psychology, for her potential talents to become a compassionate leader who will create positive change and inspire the wider society to strive for excellence. We send our warmest greeting to both of them. 

 


Excellent Social Sciences Student Award, AY2020-21


The Excellent Social Sciences Student Award was established to recognize students’ excellence performance in their academic, community or university contribution. We extend our warmest greetings to Ms. Qudsia Syed, Major in Psychology, for being selected as the Excellent Social Sciences Student of the year.


Best Senior Thesis Award, AY2020 & 2021


In order to encourage final year students to write a quality Senior Thesis, the Office of Faculty of Social Sciences offers the Best Senior Thesis Award each year.  In AY2020, Ms. Bariam-BiBi and Mr. Ng Chung Hei, Major in Psychology were selected by the Panel for recognizing their achievements for the high quality of Senior Thesis. in AY2021, Mr. Lee Ting Hin, Major in Psychology and Mr. Sonal Chandra, Major in Economics were the Best Senior Thesis awardees. The supervisors and Faculty members shared the joy at the Presentation Ceremony.  

 

 


DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS
 

The Economics Scholarship , AY2020-21

 

This scholarship provides graduates with a one-off payment of HKD 50,000 to assist in paying the expenses related to his/her further study. This scholarship grants up to two scholarships for further study in economics (or related to economics) in non-local top universities (Master/MPhil, or PhD Programmes). We will award our graduating economics student Ms. Fu Tingting for pursuing further study in MSc. in Applied Analytics Programme at Columbia University.

 

The MSc. in International Banking and Finance (MIBF) Programme Scholarships, AY2021-22

 

The Department of Economics has awarded Economics graduate Mr. CHAN Hon Chuen the MSc. in International Banking and Finance (MIBF) Programme Scholarship for pursuing the MIBF Programme at Lingnan University in AY2021-22. This scholarship will provide a full tuition waiver plus a stipend of HKD50,000 to assist the awardees in paying the expenses related to their study of the Programme.

 

The Best Economics Students Awards, AY2020-21

 

To provide an extra incentive to our students to discover the allure of economics, the Economics Department decided to award the “Best Economics Students Awards” to top students from the Major in Economics of the BSocSc (Hons) Programme. Sociology and Social Policy Research Awards, AY2020/21 and AY2019/20

 

The award aims to recognize 3rd & 4th year students majoring in Sociology (SOC) & Social And Public Policy Studies (SPPS) who have an outstanding academic performance and received A or A- in at least one course related to research methods (i.e. SOC3101 Sociological Research Methods, SOC4101 Qualitative Research Methods or SOC4217 Quantitative Research Methods).
