The Taught Postgraduate Programmes Office hosted the Executive Speakers Forum Series #2 on 13 April 2026, featuring Prof. Witman Hung on “How Business Students Should Face the AI Era: From Tech Waves to Workplace Survival and Management Transformation.”

Prof. Hung unpacked 2026’s breakthrough moment—AI Agents moving from “advisors” to “executors,” the rise of OpenClaw as a flexible, secure, model-agnostic agent framework, and the “embodied intelligence” tipping point bringing AI into the physical world (e.g., autonomous assembly boosting factory efficiency). He indicated that organizations are shifting to AI-native structures, where management evolves from “managing people” to orchestrating human–machine systems.

Citing data that up to 93% of roles will be impacted, Prof. Hung highlighted a “dumbbell-shaped” workplace: standardized mid-tier roles shrink while demand grows for AI Strategy leaders and agent trainers. For students of business programmes, he outlined an AI-era capability pyramid—digital survival (AI tools, data literacy), business augmentation (strategic AI, cross-domain integration), and irreplaceable human strengths (value judgment, creativity, leadership, adaptability).

Looking ahead, he emphasized the OPC + AI Agent model—solo corporate entities powered by multi-agent execution—as a new minimal business unit in the digital economy, underpinned by rigorous data, algorithm, and tax compliance. His call to action: embrace AI as a force multiplier, build “business thinking + AI mastery + value judgment,” and design careers around human–AI collaboration.
