UNU HIT, together with OSL and LEI at Lingnan University, drives SDG 9 by developing practical, community focused technologies that enhance safety, inclusivity, and living conditions for under-resourced groups in Hong Kong. Their collaborative innovations strengthen resilient infrastructure and support more equitable, sustainable community development.

Lingnan University advances SDG 9 through pioneering work in next generation perovskite solar cells. Prof. Shengfan Wu’s team achieved a certified world record 26.92% efficiency and exceptional stability, supported by RGC and NSFC funded studies on halide management and 2D/3D junctions. Their breakthroughs accelerate durable, commercially viable clean energy technologies.

Lingnan researchers are developing aqueous zinc batteries as a safe, low cost alternative to lithium ion systems. Through innovations in electrochemistry, electrode engineering, and scalable manufacturing, the team enhances stability, energy density, and longevity. Industry collaborations confirm strong performance, supporting SDG 9 by advancing resilient and sustainable energy storage infrastructure.

Lingnan University advances SDG 9 through low cost dehumidifier design, smart food waste cart improvements, inclusive fashion social enterprise development, and AI based home safety monitoring. These student driven and cross disciplinary initiatives integrate technology, entrepreneurship, and social impact to enhance community well being and support resilient, inclusive urban living.

Lingnan University’s innovative air purifier, PureAura, has won the Gold Award at the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva. Developed by the Lingnan Entrepreneurship Initiative team, this advanced device exemplifies humanitarian technology and sustainability, offering an effective solution for improving air quality in urban environments.
