Display of National Flag and National Flag Raising Ceremonies

To promote national education and help students develop a sense of belonging to our country, the University flies the national flag daily and holds flag raising ceremonies on campus.
Daily Display of National Flag
The University will raise the national flag, together with the regional flag and the University flag, at 8:00 am every Monday to Friday (except public holidays and in bad weather) during term time at the flag pole area outside Wong Administration Building.
A Flag Raising Ceremony, to be conducted by the Lingnan University Flag Guard Team, will be held on the following five occasions every year in the presence of members of the University management, stakeholders, staff and students:
- First Day of Term 2, or first day of class after the Chinese New Year break;
- 1 July (Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Establishment Day);
- New Student Orientation Days (August);
- 1 October (National Day); and
- Congregation (December).
All students and colleagues are cordially invited to attend the Flag Raising Ceremonies.
Bad weather arrangement:
If Thunderstorm Warning is in force / Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 or above is in force as announced by the Hong Kong Observatory / Yellow, Red or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is in force / “Extreme Conditions” is announced by the Government at 8:30 am on the flag raising day, the Ceremony will be cancelled.
