Launch of Lingnan’s first High-Performance Computing Data Centre, Lingnan HPC NexT, and the HPC Week in July
Lingnan HPC NexT, Lingnan’s first High-Performance Computing (HPC) Data Centre, began operations in February 2025. With over 6,000 TFLOPS of computing power—equivalent to processing trillions of calculations per second—it combines cutting-edge GPU and CPU clusters to tackle challenges once deemed impossible. Whether simulating new material synthesise, advancing AI-driven geographical models, optimizing smart cities, or a variety of machine learning topics, etc., HPC NexT is our gateway to groundbreaking discoveries.
HPC is more than speed and algorithms. It’s about the human ingenuity behind them. It’s about your ideas—whether you’re modeling climate change, designing AI for social good, or reimagining smart cities.

The grand opening ceremony of Lingnan HPC NexT was held on 8 July 2025 during the Times Higher Education Digital Universities Asia Conference hosted on campus. To celebrate the grand opening of the Lingnan HPC NexT, ITSC organized the first ever HPC Week from 7 to 11 July 2025 in collaboration with Nvidia AI Technology Centre (Hong Kong) to promote the adoption of HPC technologies and to encourage innovative research using HPC technologies. This week-long event featured an insightful full-day bootcamp activity for students to form teams for a competition using the HPC technology they have learnt, a full-day Deep Learning Institute to let participants experience deep learning in action and a technical workshop to introduce the Nvidia software platform and the best practices of GPU computing. Three experts from Nvidia were invited to conduct the training. Over 80 staff and students participated in the week, and all find them helpful and useful. The champion team of the bootcamp was awarded a cash coupon of HK$500.
