Setup of IT/AV Infrastructure for Campus Development Projects

ITSC continues to enhance our campus infrastructure to meet the growing needs of our academic and administrative communities. During the past year, we have successfully completed and upgraded the IT and AV infrastructure for several key campus development projects at Lingnan University. They are: Lingnan Hub, M+14/F, LBYG01, LBYG02, and the President’s Lodge, all equipped with state-of-the-art IT and AV technology.

ITSC has implemented a Wi-Fi 6E infrastructure, Multigigabit Ethernet ports, and an AV over IP system, enabling seamless audio and video distribution over the network.

Wi-Fi 6E Standard:

The upgraded Wi-Fi infrastructure adopts the latest Wi-Fi 6E technology, which operates on the new 6 GHz band. This advancement builds upon the features of Wi-Fi 6, offering improved efficiency, higher data rates, enhanced security, and reduced interference. It also integrates modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Microservices, and Big Data Analytics, paving the way for a new era of wireless service scalability and performance. Additionally, the system incorporates AIOps, which autonomously detects and resolves issues beyond human capability, providing detailed diagnostics and solutions.

Multigigabit Capability:

To address the exponential growth in mobile device usage and IoT adoption, along with the increasing demand for data-intensive tasks over wireless networks, all ports now support Multigigabit Ethernet (compliant with the IEEE 802.3bz standard). This delivers 2.5GbE and 5GbE PoE power speeds, ensuring the network can accommodate the escalating demand for bandwidth.
