Lingnan University students recently won the Outstanding Work Award at the 25th Qi Yue Recitation Arts Festival and National University Students Recitation Conference Competition. The winning work, entitled "Embrace the Tree of Life", was performed by Li Jiapeng, a sophomore majoring in Business Psychology, He Mushan, a sophomore majoring in Chinese, and Tian Xuetong, a freshman majoring in Chinese, under the guidance of senior lecturer Dr Zhou Bo and Ms Wei Sijing, a lecturer at the Chinese Language Education and Assessment Centre (CLEAC).

 

This is the fourth time Lingnan has achieved outstanding results and it is the only tertiary institution in Hong Kong to receive an award in this national professional recitation competition.

The theme of this year’s competition was "Recite Classics with a Heart Towards the Future", and the organising committee conducted a national preliminary examination of 1,208 works from 280 institutions, with 24 finalists moving onto the next stage.  

 

The Qi Yue Recitation Arts Festival and National University Students Recitation Conference Competition is the highest-level event and competition in the national recitation arts schedule. It is overseen by the Ministry of Education and the National Language and Character Work Committee, organised by the National Language and Character Promotion Base (Communication University of China) and the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art, and run by the Broadcasting and Anchoring Art College of the Communication University of China and the Broadcasting and Anchoring Committee of the Chinese Collegial Association for Visual Art.
