Four Lingnan University scholars named Best Computer Science Scientists in 2024 Ranking by Research.com Edition

Lingnan University has achieved outstanding results in the 2024 Edition of the Ranking of Best Computer Science Scientists conducted by Research.com. Prof S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science; Prof Xin Yao, Vice-President (Research and Innovation) and Tong Tin Sun Chair Professor of Machine Learning; Prof Sam Kwong Tak-wu, Associate Vice-President (Strategic Research), Acting Dean of the School of Data Science, and Chair Professor of Computational Intelligence; and Prof Xie Haoran, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Computing and Decision Sciences, have been named among the Best Scientists in the field of Computer Science.

Among China's best Computer Science Scientists, Prof Xin Yao has achieved a brilliant 10th place with a Discipline H-index of 119 and 68,654 citations, a testament to his exceptional contributions to the field. Prof Xin Yao said “I am deeply honoured to be recognised as one of the top scholars by Research.com. This year, as I embark on my first academic journey at Lingnan University, my goal as a Computer Science expert is to nurture students with critical thinking and innovative mindsets through AI education, aiming to tackle societal challenges by empowering them to apply AI technologies to real-world scenarios and enhancing public understanding and literacy in artificial intelligence.”

The Ranking of Best Computer Science Scientists by Research.com is a globally recognised accolade that acknowledges the research strengths and significant impact made by scholars in the field. Position in the ranking is based on a researcher’s Discipline H-index, which only includes publications and citation values for an examined discipline. This year, over 27,337 researchers in the discipline of Computer Science were examined.
