Lingnan University and Peking University sign collaborative MoU

On 30 September, Prof S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science of Lingnan University, led a delegation to Peking University (PKU), where he and Prof Gong Qihuang, President of Peking University, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between Lingnan University and Peking University. During the visit, they held sincere and friendly discussions regarding cooperation and international exchanges. Prof Fang Fang, Vice President of PKU and member of the Standing Committee of PKU Party Committee, was also present.
Within the agreed cooperation framework, both parties intend to collaborate in areas such as student and staff exchanges, visiting scholar programmes, cultural exchange activities, research cooperation, and joint and short-term training. Lingnan University had previously signed a student exchange agreement with PKU's Yuanpei College, and this new MoU represents an upgrade to inter-university cooperation, a milestone in the direct partnership between Lingnan University and PKU.
Prof Gong Qihuang welcomed President Qin and his delegation warmly. He spoke about the two universities’ good relationship, and the Lingnan-Yuanpei STEM Summer Academy, an innovation and entrepreneurship event they held jointly this summer, which broadened the horizons of students from both regions, and encouraged exchanges between Beijing and Hong Kong. Prof Gong hopes to expand cooperation and to organise more important activities together.
President Qin thanked PKU and described Lingnan's most recent digital innovations in education. He hopes to strengthen exchanges with PKU and continue to increase areas of cooperation, and looks forward to working together extensively in fields such as ancient cultural studies and digital communication. He also invited President Gong to visit Lingnan University.
