Lingnan University’s distinguished alumni Dr Guo Hangfei receives £6.25 million UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Award

Lingnan University Faculty of Business MPhil graduate and Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at Queen’s Business School Dr Guo Hangfei is leading a pioneering project that has been awarded £6.25 million (approximately HK$64 million) by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the national funding agency that invests in science and research in the United Kingdom. This substantial grant recognises Dr Guo’s commitment to excellence and also demonstrates the Lingnanian’s exceptional capabilities.

Dr Guo’s academic journey began with her MPhil studies at Lingnan from 2009 to 2011, under the mentorship of Prof Leng Mingming, Faculty Dean and a leading scholar in operations management. These formative experiences contributed to Dr Guo’s research acumen and deepened her understanding of supply chain management. After graduation, Dr Guo studied in Canada, where she obtained a PhD in Business from McMaster University. She subsequently held academic positions at the University of East Anglia and Queen’s University Belfast, where she is now a Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management.

Dr Guo said that “the awarded project ‘ReImagining Supply Chain Network Plus (RiSC+)’ will bring together a vast network of experts who can use their specialist knowledge to conduct significant research on the complex systems of the UK’s fashion, critical mineral, and food supply chains.” The UKRI award underscores Dr Guo and her team’s innovative approach to tackling intricate supply chain issues as well as their economic contribution.
