Lingnan University strengthens school partnerships at ‘Inspiring the Future’ Reception for Principals and Teachers
Lingnan University hosts the "Inspiring the Future" Reception for Principals and Teachers, welcoming secondary school principals and teachers from across Hong Kong to the campus for constructive discussions.

The event kicks off with a creative nod to Lingnan’s digital-forward vision as AI-generated avatars of MCs Crystal Cai Man-wai, a Year 2 student from the Department of Government and International Affairs, and Dildaarpreet Singh (Prince), a Year 1 student from the Department of English, welcome the audience before making a surprise in-person appearance.
Following the digital avatar introduction, MCs Crystal Cai Man-wai, a Year 2 student from the Department of Government and International Affairs, and Dildaarpreet Singh (Prince), a Year 1 student from the Department of English, take to the stage in person to host the "Inspiring the Future" Reception.

Participants enjoy a guided campus tour in small groups, exploring Lingnan University's vibrant learning environment and state-of-the-art facilities.
Lingnan University hosted an “Inspiring the Future” Reception for Principals and Teachers on 29 May, welcoming principals, school leaders, and careers and guidance counsellors from secondary schools across Hong Kong to its campus, and bringing together the University’s senior management, academic staff, alumni, and students to discuss future education trends and student development.
The reception aimed to strengthen partnerships between Lingnan and secondary schools, as well as providing a platform for educators to exchange views on whole-person education, academic innovation, and opportunities for students in higher education.
It opened with a keynote address by Prof S. Joe Qin, President and Wai Kee Kau Chair Professor of Data Science at Lingnan University, who explained Lingnan’s vision of becoming a leading liberal arts university in the digital era with a strong research focus, and said “Lingnan University is committed to redefining liberal arts education for the digital age by integrating the humanities, science, and AI literacy. Our goal is to furnish students with critical thinking, adaptability, and a strong sense of purpose, empowering them to face their careers and future social challenges with confidence. We are encouraged by the growing recognition of Lingnan by students, parents, and the education sector reflected in rising application numbers and the positive outcomes for our graduates, and look forward to working closely with our secondary school partners to inspire and nurture the next generation.”
One of the highlights of the event was the sharing session “Whole-person Development of Students: Growth, Aspirations, and Practice” with Kingsley Huang, a Year 3 student in the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) programme, and alumna Ms Anson Yu from the Department of Translation, who talked about their studies and self-development journeys, moderated by Prof Lisa Leung Yuk-ming, Associate Professor of the Department of Cultural Studies.
Another discussion session, “Learning to Serve: Opportunities and Impact from Knowledge to Action with Prof Paulina Wong Pui-yun, Head and Associate Professor (Presidential Early Career Scholar) of the Division of Science; Dr Philip Wong Yat-lung, Deputy Director of STEAM Education & Research Centre and Pan Sutong Shanghai-Hong Kong Economic Policy Research Institute; and Mr Adrian Lo Chun-kwong, Product Design Lead of the Office of Service-Learning ”, was moderated by Ms Anson Yu. The panel discussed how collaborative projects and partnerships can translate academic knowledge into meaningful social impact, and how students are equipped to make thoughtful contributions in an AI-driven world.
The event also highlighted Lingnan’s achievements in innovative education. Dr Tobby Kan Shiu-tao, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries, presented CineSim, the world’s first free cinematography simulation software designed for higher education. The project recently received the Technological or Digital Innovation of the Year award at the Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2026, bringing further international recognition to Lingnan.
The reception ended with the session “Nurturing the Future: Academic Programmes and Admissions Information”, where Prof Raymond Chan Hon-fu, Vice-President (Academics) cum Provost and Lam Man Tsan Chair Professor of Scientific Computing, and Ms Margaret Cheung, Registrar, presented Lingnan’s latest academic programmes and admissions information, with a focus on the interdisciplinary curriculum and the Samuel C.C. Ting Elite Class for high-achieving students.
This was part of the Lingnan JUPAS Summer Festival, following the favourable response to the JUPAS consultation at the West Kowloon Cultural District on 16 May. Next the University will host a two-day, one-night “Preview Your University Life” camp on 9 and 10 July, and a “Light and Shadow—Dialogue on Growth” film screening and sharing session on 10 July, showing the film The Way We Talk and featuring a dialogue between Lingnan professors and the film’s director.
Building on the momentum of last year’s undergraduate Info Day promotion—which received the top gold honour, the Award of Excellence, at the 32nd Annual Communicator Awards—these activities aim to give prospective students, parents, and schools a comprehensive understanding of Lingnan’s academic offerings and vibrant campus life. Lingnan will continue to work closely with secondary schools to inspire the next generation through forward-looking liberal arts education in the digital era.
