Lingnan University opens 2027/28 undergraduate applications for Chinese Mainland students Flagship Samuel C.C. Ting Elite Class and a brand-new double degree programme launched

Lingnan University has officially opened applications for its undergraduate programmes for the 2027/28 academic year. Starting from today, both Chinese Mainland Gaokao candidates and students holding international qualifications may submit their applications through the University's online system (https://apply.ln.edu.hk/).

The School of Data Science launches a new double degree programme

Starting from September 2027, the Faculty of Business and the School of Data Science will offer a joint brand-new self-financed double degree programme, the Bachelor of Business Administration (Honours) – Finance and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Innovative Design and Artificial Intelligence. Blending knowledge across finance, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and innovative design, the programme is dedicated to nurturing versatile, interdisciplinary talent required by the market. Spanning four years, it offers greater time efficiency than traditional five-year double degree programmes, enabling students to concurrently earn two undergraduate degrees upon completing 150 credits.

Additionally, the School of Data Science will offer a new self-financed programme, the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Innovative Design and Artificial Intelligence, which deeply integrates innovative design thinking, human-computer interaction, and systems engineering. The programme is dedicated to cultivating exceptional talent equipped with both professional technical proficiency and humanistic design thinking.

Flagship project Samuel C.C. Ting Elite Class:

full scholarship to create a top interdisciplinary learning platform

In the 2026/27 academic year, Lingnan officially launched the Samuel C.C. Ting Elite Class, named after Nobel Laureate in Physics Prof Samuel C.C. Ting, which selects top-tier talent from outstanding undergraduates awarded University Entrance Scholarships to participate in this comprehensive learning opportunity. Students will receive a four-year full-tuition scholarship and a four-year full-accommodation subsidy with guaranteed hostel accommodation.

Furthermore, students will have personal mentorship from distinguished academics, preferential participation in cutting-edge research projects, and excellent opportunities to meet renowned scholars, including Nobel Laureates. They will also receive AI training from major multinationals, culminating in professional certificates. Upon graduation, they will be prioritised for admission to postgraduate programmes.

Lingnan University made a remarkable leap in international rankings this year, placing 257th in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027. It also retained the world’s No. 1 position in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education in the Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 and secured 84th in its debut in the THE Asia University Rankings.

Lingnan adopts an independent recruitment policy for Chinese Mainland Gaokao candidates. Applications are processed outside the National Colleges and Universities Enrolment System (全國普通高校統一招生計劃) and do not impact or occupy Chinese Mainland university quotas.
