LU hosts Grand Opening Ceremony for Library and Off-site Learning Centres

On 23 November, LU hosted the Grand Opening Ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Fong Sum Wood Library’s extensive spatial renovation, and also the learning hub at Jao Tsung-I Academy (JTIA) and the Union Park Learning Centre.

“The renovation works and installation of new learning facilities beyond the campus reflect the University’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure here and beyond, in order to meet the changing needs of teaching, research, and other developments,” said LU President Prof Leonard K Cheng in his welcoming speech.

“With additional teaching venues established, it fosters student learning and a conducive working environment for colleagues. In future, we hope to set up teaching, learning and research institutions in the Greater Bay Area,” said Vice-President Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho, who also acknowledged the concerted efforts made to enhance student learning facilities.

The renovated Library has a new mezzanine floor, and the first floor has been spatially reorganised and a lift installed for barrier-free access. This represents a 24 per cent increase in total area to 3,500 sq m.
