Tea together enables conversations between Lingnan President and student leaders
On 27 December 2023, Prof S. Joe Qin, President, Prof Li Donghui, Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs), Ms Irene Ng Wai-ming, Director of Student Affairs, and staff members from the Office of Student Affairs at Lingnan University met with 21 student society leaders for tea, a valuable opportunity for discussions between staff and students.
In his speech, President Qin talked about the University’s recent outstanding achievements, including an approximately 10 per cent increase in the average annual salary of this year’s graduates, the significant rise in the number of JUPAS Band A applications for two consecutive years, two world-class scientists joining Lingnan, a yearly 30 per cent increase in funding from the Research Grants Council, and an ongoing rise in the numbers of undergraduate and graduate student applicants.
He then told the students about the University’s substantial developments, which include integrating artificial intelligence and innovative technology elements into core curriculums to advance digital learning, and the expansion and enhancement of campus space.
Besides, Prof Li Donghui shared that Lingnan University is co-organising a summer training camp and competition on innovation and entrepreneurship with Yuanpei College of Peking University to foster an entrepreneurial spirit rooted in the liberal arts ethos.
