The Department of Psychology of Lingnan University has been actively forging cross-institutional collaborations and connections. Recently, the Department reached out to three prestigious universities in Mainland China - the East China Normal University (ECNU), the Zhejiang University (ZJU), and the Renmin University of China (RUC) - to foster exchanges and collaborations.

 

Prof Siu Oi-ling, Lam Woo & Co Ltd Chair Professor of Applied Psychology and Head of the Department of Psychology of Lingnan University was invited by Prof Zhang Ran, the Department Head of Human Resources Management and Social Security of ECNU to deliver a talk titled "From Economic Cost of Occupational Stress to Enhancing Employees' Work-life Balance" on 29 March. At the event, Prof Siu discussed the economic costs of work-related stress with faculty members and postgraduate students, and she and Prof Zhang spoke about potential future collaborations, including developing a five-year partnership plan and co-organising a dual Master's degree programme.

Prof Siu also received an invitation to the Department of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences at Zhejiang University on 1 April to meet students and faculty members, and introduced the Department of Psychology, and the Master’s, Doctoral, and Postdoctoral programmes at Lingnan, including the two one-year Master's programmes in the Department of Psychology: Master of Science in Work and Organisational Psychology and Master of Social Sciences in Applied Psychology. Prof He Guibing, Head of the Department of Psychological and Behavioral Sciences at ZJU, came to the meeting with 10 psychology teachers, and discussed the department's history and research priorities.

 

Prof Siu expressed interest in fostering collaboration between both parties, and looks forward to the development of programmes and research in human-computer interaction and human factors engineering in Lingnan’s Department of Psychology.

Furthermore, the Department of Psychology of Lingnan University and the Department of Psychology of Renmin University of China signed a five-year cooperation agreement on 11 April, marking the start of a new chapter in their collaboration. The agreement promotes academic exchanges between the two departments, reinforcing their partnership, and covers teaching exchanges, research collaboration, and professional development. There is also a sub-agreement on their Master's Degree Student Exchange Programme.

 

Following the signing ceremony held at Lingnan University, representatives and faculty members from both universities discussed their research areas and exchanged ideas on potential opportunities for collaboration.
