Second Year Success: Business case competition participation jumps 30% at Lingnan
Following the success of its inaugural event last year, Lingnan University hosted the second Lingnan University Business Case Competition (LUBCC 2025) on 12 April, sponsored by CPA Australia Ltd and co-organised by the Taught Postgraduate Programmes Office (TPO) of the Faculty of Business and the Hong Kong Institute of Business Studies (HKIBS).
The competition challenges students to analyze complex business cases, develop innovative solutions, and hone their communication and teamwork skills—bridging the gap between theory and real-world application. This year’s edition saw 368 students (80 teams) participate—a 30% increase from 2024, reflecting growing enthusiasm for experiential learning.
Following rigorous preliminary assessments, 12 of the 80 competing teams advanced to the Presentation Day and Award Ceremony—the competition’s final round, where they faced evaluation by a high-profile judging panel. After an intense showdown, two teams rose to the top:
- Team 49 (Associate Degree & Undergraduate division) won for their outstanding strategic analysis of Hang Heung Cake Shop’s business case.
- Team 45 (Research Postgraduate & Taught Postgraduate division) triumphed in the same case with their innovative solutions.
Both champions were awarded HK$10,000 prizes, celebrating their exceptional problem-solving and presentation skills.
