On 19 June, Lingnan University hosted the “Empowering Youth as Future Leaders of Sustainability” orientation day. This pilot project, funded by the EarthCare Foundation and initiated by the Centre for Cultural Research and Development (CCRD), will take 40 young people on study tours and community visits across Hong Kong, Mainland China, and Indonesia. They will get hands-on experience in areas such as food systems, environmental protection, climate adaptation, and community cooperation, meet local people, and learn how cultural backgrounds influence sustainability and inspire positive change to make places more sustainable.
Lingnan University’s "Exploring Chinese Charisma" Shandong Study Tour
Hosted by the Chinese Language Education and Assessment Centre (CLEAC) at Lingnan University, financed by the Lingnan Education Organization (LEO), and led by Dr Zhou Bo, Senior Lecturer, and Mr Jiang Xinyu, Assistant Lecturer of CLEAC, Lingnan University’s "Exploring Chinese Charisma—Chinese Language and Culture Study Group" toured Shandong from 7 to 15 June, 2025. This programme is part of the LingArt Heritage series, which combines classical recitation, cultural heritage visits, Confucian sanctuary studies, and Chinese writing in its liberal arts education philosophy, building a platform to increase cooperation between universities.
With youth mental health commanding increasing attention in recent years, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Psychological Counselling Alliance, composed of the Wofoo Joseph Lee Consulting and Counselling Psychology Research Centre in the Department of Psychology at Lingnan University and 16 higher education institutions in the Greater Bay Area (GBA), held a conference at the Lingnan@West Kowloon learning hub on 16 June. The universities in the Alliance agreed to integrate Lingnan University’s Wellness Ambassador Programme (WAP) training modules into their peer counselling programmes in order to support students’ psychological development and improve mental health on campuses and in communities.
Lingnan University presented its Jockey Club Gerontechnology and Smart Ageing in Place (GTSA) Project’s Gerontech Ambassadors Training Model at the Guangdong Province Rehabilitation Medicine Association Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Rehabilitation Conference 2025, held in Guangzhou from 13 to 15 June. Among 27 first-class entries, Lingnan University was the only Hong Kong higher education institution to stand out for its exceptional contributions to gerontechnology and social inclusion.
Lingnan University’s Jockey Club Gerontechnology and Smart Ageing in Place Project has received the highest 3-Star Certificate in the Elderly Care Award Scheme 2024-25 for the second consecutive year. Organised by the Co-ordinating Committee for Elderly Service of the Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing Districts Social Welfare Department, the 3-star rating represents the top award, acknowledging the project’s excellence in community outreach and elderly care innovation.
