The Forum aims to address the latest and interesting issues arising in the recent development and applications of data science and AI technologies, which include ChatGPT and other AI chatbots. The two-day event gathered a number of world-renowned data science and AI researchers as well as domain experts to exchange ideas on technological development and applications, present new relevant findings, and address major challenging issues in driving data science and AI technology for the benefit of the society.
The second day’s session of the Forum was held at Lingnan University. Prof Leonard K Cheng, President of LU, delivered opening remarks, in which he expressed his sincere gratitude to the speakers for their valuable contributions to the event and expected that fruitful discussions during the event would have a lasting impact on the future of data science and AI in Hong Kong and beyond.
“At Lingnan, we aim to provide our students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the digital age while maintaining our commitment to liberal arts education. For example, we are actively exploring ways to integrate AI and data science techniques into our curriculum and research activities, especially in the areas of gerontology, smart ageing, culture and heritage, humanitarian technology, and environmental sustainability. We believe that a strong foundation in critical thinking, creativity, and empathy, combined with expertise in data science and AI and a readiness to collaborate, will empower our graduates to tackle complex global challenges and contribute to the betterment of society,” said President Cheng.
The second day of the Forum consists of keynote talks, invited talks, and panel discussions by world-leading researchers and influential practitioners, including Prof. David Simchi-Levi from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. George Lam from United Nations ESCAP Sustainable Business Network, Prof. Yaochu Jin from Bielefeld University, and Prof. Yike Guo from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as keynote speakers, to facilitate deep interactions and discussions.
