ILP Unit Requirements (For Students admitted in AY 2026-27 or after)
As a graduation requirement, Year 1 and senior year admittees are required to complete a minimum of 75 and 45 ILP units respectively by attending ILP activities during their study in Lingnan University. All first-year students are required to participate in the New Student Orientation (NSO), which accounts for 15 ILP units. The minimum unit requirements for the ILP learning domains are listed below:

1 The Senate, at its meeting held on 26 May 2026, approved the adjustment of the minimum required ILP units from 5 units to 3 units under each learning domain, while the total required ILP units remain unchanged. This adjustment is to apply to the new cohorts admitted in 2026-27 and thereafter.
2 Students who have participated in and completed an approved Student Exchange Programme (SEP) can acquire an exemption of 7.5 ILP units under Free Electives. For details, please refer to Office of Global Education.
3 Once students met the requirement of each learning domain, the additional units will be counted under Free Electives.
4 If students cannot participate in or complete the NSO programme, they are required to obtain ILP units under Free Electives.

Students are encouraged to plan their ILP study plan early and fulfill part of the ILP requirements each year.
Things to note :
1) Special cases other than the above are subject to the approval of the Management Committee of ILP and Senate.
2) The designated year of admission does not reflect the number of credits the student earned for fulfilment of curriculum requirements and the expected duration before he/she can graduate. The actual number of transfer credits to be granted for fulfilment of curriculum requirements will follow the relevant academic regulations regarding credit transfer. As such, the student may require longer period than normal programme duration for fulfilling the curriculum requirements.
